An HSS post connects to a continuous wide flange beam per plan using a three-quarter-inch thick Grade 50 steel plate welded to the column with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld. Six three-quarter-inch diameter high-strength bolts secure the assembly, with shims added as needed beneath the base plate. A bracing wide flange beam frames into the connection using a stiffener plate and additional bolted framing. Section A-R indicates the relative positions of the face of the beam flange below and workable gauge dimensions.
