This connection features a gusset plate of thickness T welded to the side of a structural steel column and the top of the base plate. The gusset plate is attached to the column flange and the base plate using 5/8 inch fillet welds on both sides. The assembly is positioned 6 inches from the column face along the base plate. The gusset plate serves as the primary connection point for a diagonal brace member.
