Concrete masonry unit wall corners and wall intersections are reinforced with vertical bars and horizontal lap splices. The assembly uses open-end blocks to accommodate continuous horizontal reinforcement with alternate bends where required unless noted otherwise. Shells are broken at cell webs to allow grout flow throughout the masonry cores. Vertical reinforcement consists of two number five bars minimum placed typically in the core cells. Horizontal reinforcement is tied through the intersection and corner junctions with standard lap splices.
