A non-bearing concrete masonry unit wall extends upward to meet an overhead steel joist and metal deck roof assembly. Lateral stability is provided by L3x3x1/4-inch structural steel braces spaced at six feet on center maximum along alternate sides of the wall. The braces connect to a 3/8-inch by 5-inch by 0'-10-inch steel plate anchored to the top of the masonry wall with two 1/2-inch diameter by 6-inch wedge head anchors at 6-inch gauge. Fillet welds of 1/8-inch size secure the brace members at both the top chord of the joist and the base plate connection.
