Steel beams frame into a continuous HSS column below per plan, with beam edges aligned to the column edge. One-half-inch stiffener plates are provided on each side with full-depth partial-joint-penetration welds to the flanges at top and bottom, and five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on each side to the web. Beam-to-beam moment connections incorporate additional complete-joint-penetration welds to the end plate at the flanges. A typical shear tab connection is used where moment connections are not called out on plan. The HSS column features full-depth partial-joint-penetration welds all around at moment connections.
