A steel column bears on a steel base plate set over one and a half inches of non-shrink grout atop a concrete pier and footing. Anchor bolts secure the base plate into the foundation. A concrete stem wall and exterior slab on grade adjoin the column base, with three sets of ties spaced at two inches on center placed around the anchor bolts. Continuous stem wall reinforcement maintains a three-inch minimum cover for frost depth protection.
