A twelve-inch by six-and-three-quarter-inch by one-inch thick steel plate connects to an HSS six-inch by two-inch by one-quarter-inch plug column. The plate anchors to the timber column below using four five-eighth-inch diameter glued-in rods in three-quarter-inch diameter holes, drilled and tapped into the underside of the plate with thread-locking adhesive. Four additional five-eighth-inch diameter rods in one-inch diameter holes secure the cross-laminated timber panel above using nuts and washers. The cross-laminated timber panel is omitted from the plan view for clarity.
