A non-frame pipe column or hollow structural section tube connects to a concrete pile cap or pilaster through a steel base plate welded with a five-sixteenths inch fillet weld or American Welding Society minimum. Four anchor bolts with double nuts and hardened washers secure the base plate, anchored with square plate washers embedded in the footing. A three-inch layer of non-shrink grout sits beneath the base plate, which includes a grout hole equal in size to the anchor bolt hole. Number four ties spaced at six inches with a minimum of three ties reinforce the concrete pile cap.
