A buckling-restrained brace connects to a structural steel column and beam through a gusset plate attached with bolted connections and welded stiffeners. A gusset support plate is detailed with a one-half inch minimum thickness for gusset thicknesses under two inches, and three-quarters inch minimum for greater thicknesses. A doubler plate is provided at the beam web where required by the corebrace connection schedule. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds secure the gusset to the stiffener on three sides. Working points are established at the column center and one-half the nominal beam depth from the top.
