A davit socket pedestal sits atop a steel beam sized per plan, which frames into a structural column. A one-half-inch by four-inch plate, sized to the beam width plus one inch, connects to the beam flanges with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. The beam web connects to the stiffener plate. An alternative detail is referenced for columns rotated ninety degrees.
