A six-inch diameter standard steel pipe post mounts to a three-quarter by ten by ten-inch steel base plate, which is welded to the supporting steel beam with three-eighths-inch fillet welds on three sides. Three-eighths-inch full-depth stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web beneath the base plate using quarter-inch fillet welds. An intersecting steel beam frames into the web of the support beam using a connection detailed per sheet 17/S5.11. A top plate measuring three-quarters of an inch secures the fall protection system post above, with connections provided by others. The post height is limited to one foot six inches maximum, subject to architectural verification.
