The steel moment connection joins the top and bottom beam flanges to the column flange using complete joint penetration welds typically throughout. Continuity plates are provided on each side of the column web matching the thickness of the thicker beam flange. Additional notes reference specific welding requirements and plate configurations at the joint interface.
