A lug plate of width W_1 and height H_C frames into the assembly, welded with weld size D_wL. A gusset plate of length L_Lg and width W_L connects to the lug plate via a transition dimension a and clearance c. Fastener holes of diameter d_hg at the gusset plate and d_s at the lug plate are arranged in a staggered pattern with longitudinal spacing s, edge distance e, and transverse gauges g_i and g_o. Fillet welds of size D_wLg secure the gusset plate assembly at typical locations.
