A steel column extends upward from a steel base plate resting on a layer of non-shrink grout above a concrete foundation. The base plate is anchored by hooked anchor bolts embedded into the concrete foundation. A concrete slab-on-grade surrounds the base with a blockout that is poured solid after the column has been installed.
