A structural steel column terminates at a steel cap plate that supports a continuous steel beam above with a bolted web connection. Open web steel joists bear on the assembly with two 1/2-inch diameter erection bolts at each end. A steel deck spans across the top chords of the joists and beam, secured with fillet welds typically indicated as 1/8-inch by 2-inch welds. Stabilizer plates are welded to the column with 3/16-inch fillet welds, while bottom chords of the joists are left unwelded to the stabilizer plates unless noted otherwise.
