A structural steel beam supports a wood nailer and deck assembly positioned per plan. Three-eighths-inch diameter by four-inch long lag screws secure the wood framing to the top flange of the beam at five-foot spacing on center. The edge distance for the fasteners maintains a minimum of one and one-half inches from the center line of the beam.
