A structural steel perimeter roof beam bears on a steel column via a one-half inch cap plate secured with four three-quarter inch diameter bolts. Three-eighths inch stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam over the column centerline using quarter-inch fillet welds. An open-web steel joist frames into the beam using two one-half inch diameter bolts. An L3x3 minimum angle is provided at the perimeter edge per plan. A bottom chord extension with a three kips force capacity is detailed per plan.
