The steel truss top chord frames into a truss support column and rests on a three-quarter-inch cap plate. A fourteen-inch by one-half-inch truss top chord bolted bearing plate sits between the members and is secured with bolts. An additional one-half-inch cap plate is positioned above. A three-eighths fillet weld is applied typically at the connection interface.
