A W14x311 structural steel column connects to a concrete foundation via a 3/4-inch thick by 25-inch wide by 2 feet 1 inch long steel base plate. The column flanges and web are welded to the base plate using complete joint penetration welds. The assembly rests on a 2-inch thick grout layer above the concrete foundation top at elevation +92'-0". Anchorage is provided by 1-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 threaded rods embedded vertically into the concrete, secured with heavy hex nuts and bearing plates at their lower ends.
