A hollow structural section brace connects to a wide flange or hollow structural section beam per plan with a maximum half-inch clearance. The wide-flange beam is notched as required to accommodate the connection geometry. A three-eighths-inch fillet weld joins the hollow structural section members typically at the connection. The centerline of the brace intersects the centerline of the beam at the working point. A brace on the opposite side is omitted from the view for clarity.
