Cold-formed steel lateral bracing utilizes a 1-1/2-inch by 16-gauge cold-rolled channel running continuously through stud punch-outs. A 12-long cold-rolled channel inverts over the center of the splice with three fasteners. At built-up jambs or posts, clip angles measuring 2 by 2 inches by 54 mil attach using four number 10-16 self-drilling screws. Where stud depths exceed 6 inches, blocking is required per detail LG015.02. Alternatively, a Kwik-Bridge punch system or Simpson MSUBM3.25 may be used in lieu of the clip angle.
