A concrete slab re-entrant corner is reinforced with diagonal hairpins or trim bars placed at intersecting slab edges. Two number five bars measuring seven feet zero inches in length are placed top and bottom each way typical unless noted otherwise. Two additional number five bars measuring six feet zero inches in length are placed top and bottom diagonally across the re-entrant corner extending three feet zero inches typical into the slab. These supplementary reinforcing bars distribute stress concentrations around re-entrant corners to prevent cracking in concrete slabs.
