Concrete footings penetrated by galvanized iron sleeves require specific clearances and concrete fill placed prior to pouring foundations. Pipe trenches must maintain a 2:1 slope relative to the bottom of footings to prevent undermining. Concrete fill beneath footings is limited to a maximum height of three feet above the pipe invert and matches the full width of the pipe trench. PVC sleeves are substituted where soil conditions are corrosive.
