A wood beam connects to a supporting steel beam using a welded steel plate and a Simpson HW hanger. The connection utilizes a 3-inch wide by 1/4-inch thick plate welded to the steel beam web with a 1/4-inch fillet weld, secured to the wood beam with two 3/4-inch diameter machine bolts spaced at 2 inches and 4 inches. Two rows of staggered blind nails secure the wood nailer atop the steel beam. The wood beam and steel beam sizes are sized per the framing plan.
