A concrete sump pit is cast into an elevator foundation footing and bounded by a concrete wall. The pit features a maximum coordination size of twenty-four by twenty-four by twenty-four inches with a three-inch minimum concrete cover and embedment. A galvanized steel grating with one-inch by three-sixteenth-inch bearing bars at one and three-sixteenths inches on center and cross bars at four inches on center sits atop the recess. The grating is supported by galvanized steel angles of size three by three by one-quarter inch secured with two one-half-inch-diameter mechanical anchors per side. Bent reinforcing bars match the size and spacing of the concrete mat footing reinforcement.
