A steel beam hangs from a supporting steel beam above using a WT6x11 structural tee shape welded to the underside of the upper flange with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The lower steel beam is connected to the stem of the WT-shape using three-quarter-inch diameter bolts detailed per plan and sheet 6/S5.1, skewed as required. Where the offset to the lower beam exceeds one foot, a hollow structural section measuring 5x5x1/4 is provided in lieu of the WT-shape with a standard shear tab connection welded to the face of the hollow structural section.
