An elevator rail column base plate measuring nine inches by sixteen inches is secured to concrete with four three-eighths-inch diameter concrete screw anchors. The anchors require a minimum embedment of one and five-eighths inches. The base plate is half an inch thick and positioned four and a half inches from the edge of the concrete. The design allowable shear load is nine hundred pounds per anchor.
