An HSS beam frames into an HSS post via top and bottom L6x6x1/2 angles spanning the column width with slotted holes top and bottom. The beam features a 3/8-inch cap plate at its end and standard holes to receive through-bolts. For an HSS8x8 post, two 7/8-inch diameter A325 threaded rods are specified at a 3-inch gage, while an HSS6x6 post uses one 7/8-inch diameter A325 threaded rod. Fillet welds of 3/16-inch and 1/4-inch sizes connect the angles to the HSS post on the near side and far side typically.
