This assembly connects a steel beam to a column using a collar plate that matches the beam flange width. The beam is secured to the column via a typical bolted beam connection using shear tabs on both sides of the column web. A partial joint penetration weld connects the collar plate to the column, while a one-quarter inch fillet weld secures the collar plate to the beam flange. The top of the assembly supports sheathing and a deck ledger as specified per plan, with the top of steel elevation aligned to the top of the beam.
