A wide flange beam connects to the flange of a wide flange column using a vertical connection plate. The beam web is bolted to the connection plate, which is welded to the column flange. A concrete slab over metal deck terminates at the column face, where an edge angle is provided to support the slab edge. The edge angle is coped at the column flanges as needed. Beam, column, and connection plate sizes are determined by the structural plans and schedules.
