A concrete slab is cast over a metal deck running parallel to a wide-flange beam referenced on plan. Headed shear studs are welded through the metal deck to the top flange of the beam to provide composite action. Welded wire fabric is placed at the centerline of the concrete topping at mid-span. Two number three chair bars are positioned with three-quarters of an inch clearance, supporting reinforcement centered over the beam at one-foot six-inch spacing.
