A skewed beam-end connection uses a full-height shear plate welded to the supporting member. The connection accommodates skewed angles ranging from thirty to ninety degrees with specific weld sizes per schedule or AWS D1.1 Table 42. A maximum gap of three-sixteenths of an inch is permitted for angles between thirty and sixty degrees, while standard angles between sixty and ninety degrees follow standard weld sizing requirements. Edge distances and plate clearances are detailed to ensure proper fit-up and load transfer.
