This plan section details a discontinuous control joint in a concrete masonry unit wall. A preformed joint filler insert is placed between sash blocks located on each side of the control joint. The joint is finished with a backer rod and sealant applied on each side. Vertical wall reinforcement is provided per the reinforcement schedule in the first cell on each side of the control joint. Horizontal reinforcement and bond beam reinforcement do not extend through the joint except at floor or roof diaphragm levels.
