A structural steel column base plate measuring 1 inch by 14 inches by 1 foot 2 inches is secured with four 1-inch diameter hot-dipped galvanized anchor bolts spaced at 11 inches each way. The base plate rests on a shim and grout layer with a maximum thickness of 1 inch, atop a reinforced concrete footing. The footing contains number 5 reinforcing bars at 12 inches on center each way, number 4 ties at 6 inches on center with an additional tie at the top, and number 5 dowels with standard hooks at 12 inches on center. Plate washers measuring 1/2 inch by 3 inches by 3 inches are included at the anchor bolts.
