Reinforcing bars require a minimum bar spacing of one and one-half inches or one and one-half bar diameters, whichever is larger, with a two-inch minimum required for number eleven and number fourteen bars. Maximum bar spacing is limited to span length divided by five or six inches, whichever is smaller. Non-contact splice locations must be submitted to the structural engineer of record for approval.
