The wide flange column connects to a wide flange beam through a three-quarter-inch base plate secured by four three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts, with half-inch stiffener plates on both sides of the beam web matching the beam width. The hollow structural section or pipe steel column uses a similar base plate connection with specified gauge dimensions and minimum welds per AISC specifications. The supporting beam web features half-inch stiffener plates on both sides sized to match the beam width and detailed with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds on three sides.
