A wide-flange beam frames into a wide-flange column supporting a 5-inch composite slab with a total thickness of 6-1/2 inches. A 5/8-inch-thick plate with a center slot receives the beam web, welded with a 1/4-inch fillet weld. A 3/4-inch by 7-inch by 0'-8" plate connects the beam bottom flange using four 7/8-inch-diameter A325-N bolts with standard holes in both the beam and the plate, maintaining a 1/2-inch gap from the column. Two 3/8-inch by 4-inch bent plates are installed on each side after the beam is in place, welded with 3/16-inch fillet welds. A column cap plate is detailed per the braced frame connection detail, and a 3/4-inch by 8-inch by 1'-0" centered plate is welded to the column with 3/8-inch fillet welds. Intersecting beams are omitted from the drawing for clarity.
