A future roof davit with a maximum load of 5000 pounds is supported by a 6-inch extra-strong pipe mast mounted over a structural steel column. The pipe mast secures to a 7/8-inch by 10 3/4-inch by 7 1/2-inch steel plate with a minimum yield strength of 44 ksi. A column cap plate with a thickness equal to the maximum of the flange thickness or 1 1/4 inches ties the pipe to the supporting W-shape column and intersecting floor beams. Fillet welds of various sizes connect the steel components together at the column cap and mast base. Surrounding framing consists of beams sized per plan connecting to the column web and flanges.
