The assembly consists of a stainless steel hollow structural section support beam, sized per plan, which is capped at the end with a 1/8-inch stainless steel plate secured by a seal weld. This support beam is connected to the existing joist bottom chord via a 7/8-inch diameter threaded rod that passes through a gap in the joist chord. The rod is secured at both the top and bottom of the assembly using double nuts and washers, with the connection located 6 inches from the end of the support beam, typical.
