The top track features a splice point positioned at the contractor's option with a maximum four-inch spacing. Full-height wall studs run on each side of the steel column and fasten to the flanges with screws typically on each flange. Additional fasteners or engineer-approved equals secure the studs, spaced at twelve inches on center on each side.
