A steel beam connects to a supporting steel beam utilizing a three-quarter-inch clip with a five-sixteenth-inch weld and a three-eighths-inch full depth plate. The supported steel beam features horizontal long slotted holes with one-inch diameter fasteners. A concrete slab on metal deck bears over the top flange, tied together with three-quarter-inch by three-inch studs at twelve inches on center. Two continuous number five reinforcing bars sit inside a metal slab closure strip at the edge. A quarter-inch weld with a two-inch return at top and bottom secures the connection components to the web of the supporting beam.
