A wide flange beam frames into a column and ties into a metal deck assembly with sheet metal screws and bent plates. The connection features an eighteen-gauge bent plate with a five-inch vertical leg secured by number ten sheet metal screws spaced at three inches typical. Additional number ten sheet metal screws fasten through the bottom flute of the metal deck and into a bent gauge plate. A bent plate wraps the column flange with a one-and-a-half-inch typical dimension and a one-half-inch maximum typical gap.
