Steel deck openings up to eight feet maximum in width are framed with C8x11.5 channels placed below the opening on four sides unless noted otherwise on plans. The metal deck is welded to the supporting channels per schedule. Where the deck is continuous over support and distance "X" is less than eighteen inches, the channel is omitted. Supporting wide-flange beams are sized per plan, maintaining a typical one-inch minimum to three-inch maximum dimension from the edge of support.
