A drop-in steel beam bears directly on top of a steel column and connects to an adjacent steel beam via a single plate shear connection unless noted otherwise. The drop-in beam features a one-foot clearance gap from the supporting beam web. A base plate connection designated as SCP-1 secures the continuous beam member to the steel column below. The single plate connection utilizes three bolts to join the suspended beam web to the connecting plate.
