A structural support assembly for a level 2 lounge railing bears on a concrete slab over metal deck. The horizontal support consists of an HSS 4x2 1/2x1/4 member welded with three-sixteenths fillet welds to a 3/4-inch plate, stiffened by vertical plates spaced at a maximum of six feet on center. The assembly anchors to the concrete slab via a 3/8x8x8-inch embed plate welded with four 1/2-inch diameter by 3-inch studs at 4-inch gauge spacing, supplemented by a continuous 3/8x5x6-inch embed plate with two 1/2-inch diameter by 4-inch studs at 3-inch gauge and 36 inches on center. A continuous L2x2x1/4 angle connects at the slab edge, where the guardrail and its connection to the structure are provided by others.
