A steel column splice connection is located four feet above the top of the slab, typically unless noted otherwise. Upper and lower column segments join along their centerline using demand-critical complete-joint-penetration welds at both the flanges and the web. A web erection plate with filler plates and erection bolts secures the alignment prior to welding. A callout directs attention to weld access holes detailed on a separate sheet.
