A structural steel beam-to-column connection framing into a hollow structural section tube column via a knife plate. The tubular column features a three-eighths-inch cap plate at the tube end, omitted if the column is continuous. Shear plates connect the supported beams using bolted fasteners with a typical three-inch spacing and one-and-a-half-inch edge distances. A quarter-inch fillet weld secures the cap plate configuration. The knife plate terminates at one-side connections per typical structural details.
