An HSS column base plate connection bears on a concrete wall with a one-and-a-half-inch layer of non-shrink grout. The base plate measures two and three-quarter inches thick, secured with twelve one-and-one-eighth-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 55 heavy hex anchor rods with a twenty-four-inch embedment depth. A one-inch diameter grout hole is centered on the column and wall intersection. Reinforcing includes number five hairpins placed on each side with twenty-four-inch embedment, totaling twelve hairpins. All steel plates are specified with a yield strength of Fy equals fifty ksi, and welds conform to seismic force-resisting system requirements.
