An HSS column bears on a 5/8-inch thick base plate anchored to a concrete foundation with four 3/4-inch diameter headed anchor bolts embedded 8 inches. A 1-inch grout layer sits beneath the base plate above the top of concrete. The column is welded to the base plate using a 5/16-inch fillet weld.
