A wide-flange steel beam connects to a concrete wall using a shear tab welded to an embedded steel plate. The connection utilizes a five-bolt configuration through the vertical web plate. Stiffener plates measuring one inch by one-half inch by one foot four inches are welded full penetration to the embedded plate. A one-quarter inch fillet weld is applied to the top and bottom of the shear tab connection, typical. The steel beam is sized per the framing plan.
